Our 9 days of Kathmandu Chitwan Pokhara Tour begins from the capital city (Kathmandu). Today, wake up early in the hotel and enjoy a nice plate of breakfast. Then stay ready to set off on the exciting excursion to Kathmandu city, which is also known as the ‘City of Temples’.

Riding in a smooth and well-furnished comfortable car, you will enjoy a city tour with a knowledgeable local guide. On this guided tour, the guide will give you every bit of necessary information and interesting facts about the monuments you will visit.

We will visit the four UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu that are historically, culturally and architecturally significant. Firstly, we will explore a historic Royal Palace, a medieval kingdom of Kathmandu Durbar Square (Basantapur Durbar). There are several significant sites to explore here, like the temples of Tajelu, Aakash Bhairab and Jagannath, Kumari Ghar and Kastha Mandap (the oldest structure in the city). After exploring intricate architecture and decorations of palaces, statues and courtyards in the Kathmandu Durbar Square, we will head towards Swyambhunath stupa.

Swayambhunath is the old sacred Buddhist Chaitya perched above a hill. It is a holy site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The stupa has a white dome and golden spire. It is adorned with colorful prayer flags and the eyes of the Lord Gautam Buddha. This hilltop stupa is closely related to the formation of Kathmandu Valley. Sywambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple as numerous monkeys live on this hillside. You can enjoy a 360 degree view of the entire Kathmandu Valley from the height of this stupa.

We will continue our excursion to Bouddhanath. This colossal Buddhist stupa is a center of Tibetan Buddhism. You can glimpse into unique culture, arts and exquisite handicrafts in traditional shops that surround this ancient stupa. Next, we will visit the last heritage of our excursion, the oldest (5th century) and holiest Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath.

Pashupatinath is situated on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. The architecture of the temple features a pagoda style with two golden roofs and four silver doors. You can see the cremation rituals performed beside the Bagmati River.

After the completion of a whole day Kathmandu sightseeing tour, we will drive you back to the hotel.

Nagarkot Elevation: 2,195 meters/7,201 feet

Drive Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours

Today, we will sightsee two of the other medieval kingdoms: Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.

From your hotel, we will take you on a drive southwards to the artisan’s town (Patan) in the Lalitpur District. The ancient palace of Patan Durbar Square features pagoda roofed palaces, medieval temples and courtyards built by the Malla Kings. It showcase exquisite Newari architecture with beautiful stone and wooden carvings.

After completing the exploration of Patan Durbar Square, we will head eastwards to sightsee Bhaktapur Durbar Square in Bhaktapur District. The premises of this old Durbar Square are packed with intricate architectural heritages from the medieval period. It is divided into Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square and Pottery Square. Golden Gate, 55 Windows Palace, Nyatapole Temple, Vatsala Temple, Bhairav Nath Temple and Siddhinarayan Temple are significant monuments here. In the Pottery Square you can glimpse into the traditional method of making clay and mud pots. Spend some time leisurely walking around the narrow alleys lined with a series of arts, handicrafts and textiles shops.

As the excursion to Bhaktapur Durbar Square concludes, we will drive eastward to the picturesque hilltop of Nagarkot. Nagarkot provides a peaceful escape to the rural villages and landscapes a bit far from the hustle and bustle of the city. A scenic drive through meandering countryside road will reach us to Nagarkot, where we will be staying at a lavish resort.

We will wake up early in the morning in Nagarkot and climb the Nagarkot View Tower to witness the magical sunrise over the Himalayan ranges. Additionally, from this viewpoint, you can relish striking vistas of the Kathmandu Valley spreading at this feet, surrounding hills and far off towering mountains.

After breakfast in the resort, we will return to Kathmandu and set off on a long drive towards Chitwan. On the way to the destination, the views of beautiful landscapes like rolling hills, thick forests, rivers, terraced fields and several small settlements will keep you engaged. Naubise, Kurintar, Mugling, Hetauda and Narayanghat are the major places that we drive past. You will enjoy a thrilling ride alongside the invigorating Trishuli River. In the last hour, we will drive southwards to Sauraha. It is a doorway to the Chitwan National Park. Flat lands and lush greenery of Terai welcome us to the Chitwan National Park.

In the evenings, the Tharu communities will entertain you with lively music, unique costumes, folk songs and traditional dance performances. You can sample traditional Tharu meals or as part of the experience.

After waking up in picturesque Chitwan and fueling up with delicious dishes, we will start our full day tour of the National Park. This day will be filled with full of exciting and adventurous activities. Chitwan National Park is the oldest national park of Nepal established in the year 1973. It was listed as a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

We will venture deep into the natural park area through a jungle safari riding in a jeep. You can also ride on the elephant’s back and sightsee different wild species in their natural habitat. The sight of rhinos with their little ones, leaping spotted deer, peacocks and gharials basking in the warm sun on the riverside will mesmerize you.

Chitwan National Park is home to endangered animal species, One Horned Rhinoceros and Royal Bengal Tiger. Likewise, Asian Elephant, Antelopes, Langur Monkeys, Golden Jackals, Gharial Crocodile, Clouded Leopards, Wild Elephants, Gaurs, Pangolin, Jungle Myna, Black Drongo, Four Horned Antelope, and several other mammals reside here. Chitwan National Park is a special treat for birdwatchers. You will have an opportuint to glimpse upon more than 550 bird species by joining a guided bird-watching tour.

The other thing you can do in the Chitwan National Park is visit the Elephant Breeding Center. You can see many mother and baby elephants here. You can also go for a canoe ride on the Rapti River and enjoy the views of sunbathing crocodiles, elephant baths, numerous water bodies and a captivating sunset over the horizon.

Pokhara Elevation: 827 meters/2,713 feet

Drive Distance: approximately 200 kilometers

Drive Duration: 6 to 8 hours

We will wake up early have breakfast and embark on a scenic drive to Pokhara. Leaving Chitwan we will head north towards Narayanghat driving past Sauraha. The incredible drive through the winding roads of Prithvi Highway takes you from the lowland Chitwan to the hilly Pokhara. We drive uphill across the beautiful landscapes of forests villages and hills. The views of the rushing Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers during the ride are invigorating. The westward drive during the last hour traverses us through the popular towns of Dumre and Damauli. Finally, we will reach our destination, Pokhara, a captivating city of lakes.

Upon reaching Pokhara, we will go for an exciting boat ride on the picturesque Phewa Lake. This freshwater lake seems like it has come straight out of a postcard. While riding on colorful boats on the glittering Fewa Lake, you can enjoy stunning views of the Annapurna ranges in a backdrop. Moreover, the captivating reflection of Mount Macchapuchre on the shimmering lake surface will captivate your senses. We will also visit the scared Tal Barahi Temple on the island in the mid point of the lake via a boat.

After a wonderful boating experience in Phewa Lake, you can enjoy slow and relaxed walks around the lakeside area. Soak up the vibrancy of the bustling streets and local markets before returning to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Today, we will wake up before the dawn breaks to drive to Sarangkot Hill. It is a short hike to this stunning viewpoint after exiting the vehicle. The Sagarankot hilltop rewards you with a hypnotic sunrise over Annapurna, Macchapuchre, and Dhaulagiri. The 360 degree views of the entire Pokhara city, surrounding hills and snow clad Himalayas from this vantage point are spell binding.

After this, we will head towards a beautiful Buddhist stupa of World Peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa). It is located at the top of a hill overlooking Pokhara Valley. From here, you can enjoy a sweeping view of Phewa Lake, Himalayan ranges and the Pokhara city spreading below. Spend some time taking in the peaceful spiritual ambiance of the stupa before heading toward the next landmark.

Devi’s Falls is where we visit next. It is a waterfall that flows into an underground tunnel. Next, we will explore the Gupteshwar Gufa (cave) dedicated to Lord Shiva. Then, we see the gear and equipment from most of the first Himalayan expeditions in the International Mountain Museum. The other places we explore are Bindabasini Temple, Seti River Gorge and Gurkha Museum.

Drive Distance: around 200 kilometers

Drive Duration: 6 to 8 hours

We will leave Pokhara after breakfast in the hotel. We will return to the capital city on this day, concluding our Kathmandu Chitwan Pokhara Tour.

The picturesque overland drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes you through the varying countryside landscapes like forests, rural towns and villages, farm fields, rivers etc. Our drive starts and follows the Prithvi Highway. The stunning surrounding scenery keeps following you through the journey. Different rural towns and villages like Damauli, Mugling, Kurintar, Malekhu and Naubise pass by, providing you with an opportunity to glimpse into the lifestyle of people. Likewise, we will drive alongside some popular rivers of Seti, Marshyangdi and Trihsuli.

We will finally reach Kathmandu after a long scenic drive. Spend a restful time once we drop you off at the hotel. If you want to, you can come out to buy souvenirs in Thamel or Ason Bazaar.

It’s already a day to bid goodbye to Nepal. On your final day in Nepal wake up as usual and enjoy the mouthwatering Nepali dishes. Then be ready for the airport transfer according to your flight schedule.
